Compact wax melter with steam. Holds up to 15 Langstroth frames. Includes 2000 W electric steam generator and 100 L acid-proof stainless steel drum.
Melting beeswax cleanly and efficiently is an essential part of beekeeping, especially when it's time to renew old combs or recover wax from cappings. This wax melter, mounted on a 100 L stainless steel settler and equipped with an electric steam generator, is a compact and practical solution for small to medium-sized operations that want to process their own wax easily and safely.
What need does it solve?
Throughout the season, frames accumulate that are darkened, old or simply no longer suitable for use. Leaving them aside risks wax moth infestations, mould or disease. With this unit, you can melt the wax using steam, separate it from solid residues, and store it in block form for reuse or sale.
How does it work?
This system uses water steam, the gentlest and safest way to melt beeswax:
• Fill the 4 L water tank of the electric boiler, which brings the water to a boil in about 10 minutes.
• Steam is conducted through a 3.5 m hose into the stainless steel drum.
• Inside, frames or wax residues are placed on a perforated basket that lets the melted wax drip to the bottom while retaining debris like cocoons, brood remnants or wood.
• The melted wax exits through a lateral outlet, ready for decanting, moulding or filtering.
How much wax can it handle?
Although the drum holds 100 L, what's most useful is its practical load capacity per batch:
• 15 Langstroth frames
• 8 Dadant Blatt frames
• 7 Layens frames
Key advantages
• Made of food-grade stainless steel, resistant to acidity from hive products and easy to clean.
• Lockable lid with clamps to prevent steam loss.
• Collection tray and bottom outlet make wax extraction simple.
• No open flame needed, reducing fire risk and odours.
• Perfect for drained cappings wax, which results in lighter, cleaner wax blocks.
• Includes 2000 W electric steam generator for fast and stable steam output.
A practical tip
If you need to sterilize the wax to eliminate spores from American foulbrood, note that atmospheric steam does not reach the 120 °C required. For this, use a wax sterilizer—the type that heats via resistances and can maintain pressurized high temperatures. This melter is ideal for melting and separating, but it does not sterilize.
