01 · TWO BASKETS IN, FOUR IN PLAY

And that is why the machine never waits

Two baskets work inside the vessel at a time, 15 frames each: 30 frames per load. But the unit comes with four, and that is the key to the rhythm: while two are inside melting, the other two are being emptied and loaded outside.

The inner bottom is perforated and removable, so what drains is filtered of the coarse material from the first moment and the basket comes out clean.

02 · THE WATER SEAL

A closure that neither seizes nor burns

The lid closes onto a water seal: a channel around the rim filled with water into which the edge of the lid sits. It is a seal that does not age like a rubber gasket under steam, does not stick and opens without forcing even after hours of work.

The outer vessel is 4 mm steel and the inner one is 2 mm AISI 304 L stainless. To order, the outer one can be made in stainless too.

03 · THE SECOND TRADE: CLEANING WITH SODA

Same machine, different job, different precautions

Once the wax is melted, the same boiler serves to boil the frames with caustic soda and leave them free of propolis and residue before fitting new foundation. It is the use that turns a melter into a machine for renewing equipment.

It is also the use that demands respect: caustic soda is a strong alkali and it spits when hot. Resistant gloves, goggles and apron, ventilation, and the water always before the soda, never the other way round. The spent liquor does not go down the drain: it is waste and is handled as such. And between one job and the other, the vessel is rinsed thoroughly: a trace of soda ruins the next batch of wax.

04 · DIESEL BURNER, AND OUTDOORS

It comes complete: burner, filter, suction and switch

Heating is by diesel burner and the complete set is included — burner, filter, suction and switch — so there is no separate installation to build. It raises steam quickly thanks to the shape of the vessel.

And for the same reason it is outdoor equipment: a diesel burner produces combustion gases and is not used in a closed room. Worth deciding where it will live before ordering, because it is heavy and does not move in a hurry.
