Plastic bar 102 mm long that rests across the mouth of the mould and keeps the wick centred and taut while the wax sets.
It can be reused indefinitely and replaces the cocktail stick you end up holding the wick with by hand.
01 · TENSION
Centred is not enough: the wick has to be taut
Beeswax shrinks as it cools, and a slack wick curls towards whatever the mass pulls: the candle comes out off-centre, burns down one side and ends up tunnelling. The bar holds the top end in the middle of the mould and leaves both your hands free to pour. Pull the wick taut before pouring and do not touch it until the wax is completely cold.
02 · COMPATIBILITY
The 102 mm have to span the mouth of the mould
The bar works resting on both rims, so the measurement that decides is not the height of the candle but the width of the opening: on moulds up to about 9 cm across — cubes, figures, small cylinders — it spans comfortably, and on one of 16 or 18 cm it falls short and you need a longer crossbar or a wick frame. Measure it before ordering: it is the only thing that decides whether it suits you.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The wax comes off cold, without blades or very hot water. You receive a single unit: if you work in batches, order as many as the moulds you fill at once.
