01 · AT 65 °C IT IS ALREADY SETTING

The melting threshold is not a working temperature

Beeswax melts between 62 and 65 °C. The 65 that was recommended sits right at the upper limit of that threshold: the wax is barely liquid, and in a mould with rose relief that means it does not reach the bottom of each petal.

The temperature that defines the detail is 70-75 °C. There it truly runs, with margin still before the 85 °C above which wax darkens.

02 · 105 GRAMS, 9 CANDLES PER KILO

The figure fits the volume

The 105 g quoted come to about 109 cm³ of wax, which in a piece 3 cm thick corresponds to a heart a little under 7 cm wide. That is consistent with what the mould produces.

It gives about 9 or 10 candles per kilo. As always, weigh the first and adjust: the second top-up moves the number.

03 · THE RELIEF AND THE RELEASE

What the silicone buys you

The point of this mould is the roses in relief, and that is where the flexibility of silicone pays: it peels off each petal without tearing the detail, which a rigid mould will not forgive.

Thread the 3×13 wick centred before pouring and let it cool completely before turning out. A light spray of silicone release helps if the relief is deep.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Reckon on about 105 g of wax per candle and pour at 70-75 °C, not at 65.
