01 · COMPATIBILITY

TO70 GPI 2035: the jar finish determines the fit

These four-lug lids work with a TO70 Twist-Off finish following the GPI 2035 profile. Do not choose them from the outside diameter alone: similar jars may use different heights, lugs and thread profiles. Confirm the finish code or test lid and jar before packing the whole batch. Mind the height too: TO70 comes in deep H14 and extra-deep H18, and they are not interchangeable — H18 is the one for GLAM 300 and 700 jars.

02 · A SOUND CLOSURE

A new lid still needs a compatible jar and process

Check the glass rim for chips, product residue and moisture around the sealing area. Set the lid straight and apply the torque specified for the jar and capping line. The final closure depends on the lid–jar combination, filling conditions, temperature and process; the lid alone cannot guarantee a hermetic seal or vacuum.

03 · PASTEURISATION

Up to 100 °C for 60 minutes according to the data sheet

The specification covers pasteurisation at up to 100 °C for 60 minutes. This is not a general authorisation for higher-temperature sterilisation: a more demanding process must be validated for the exact lid, sealing compound, jar and working pressure.

04 · DESIGN AND CHOICE

High skirt: this is not the standard TO70 lid

The silver finish gives honey, preserves and other food lines a clean, neutral presentation. This high-skirt Deep version uses GPI 2035; it must not be replaced by a low-skirt GPI 2030 TO70 even though both are marked 70 mm.

FROM THE APIARY

A Twist-Off does not screw on like a bottle cap: the four lugs ride up a short ramp and the whole closure is a quarter turn. Sit it flat until you feel it settle, turn to the stop and leave it there: carrying on does not seal better, it bends the lug and leaves the jar impossible to open. If it grates or feels like the thread has stripped, lift it off and set it down again — there is no thread to strip, a lug has ridden over its ramp.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

A small dent can become a failed closure

Keep the lids packaged, clean and dry between 5 and 35 °C and at no more than 70% relative humidity. The sheet states a storage life of up to two years. Do not place weight on them, and reject rusty, dented or distorted units before filling. The pack contains 25 lids; jars and capping equipment are not included.
