Diffuser with an adjustable opening and a 30 ml absorbent sponge, for metering acid evaporation inside the hive.

It sits over the frames and can be closed completely, so the evaporating surface is adjusted rather than left wide open. It is the application tool: the product and its dose come separately.

01 · POSITIONING

One to two centimetres above the top bars

It does not rest on the wood: the correct position is 10-20 mm above the top bars. That gap is what lets the vapour spread across the full width of the brood nest instead of concentrating at the contact point. To get the height without improvising, a bee escape works as a stand: rest it on top and it leaves exactly the right gap.

02 · THE ADJUSTMENT

The opening matters more than how much you load

The sponge takes up to 30 ml, but what sets the evaporation rate is how much surface you leave open — and the ambient temperature, which with these products changes the outcome a great deal between a cool day and a hot one. That is why the lid adjusts and closes fully: you can stop the evaporation when you finish, or leave the diffuser loaded and shut between one hive and the next without emptying it.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

It measures 12 cm across and 3.5 cm tall, so it needs that much clear space above the frames: with a super sitting flush it will not fit. And it is an empty diffuser — no product is included.

PRECAUTIONS

Full protection when loading it. The acids applied by evaporation are dangerous in concentration: goggles, a respirator with a suitable filter, gloves and long sleeves. Load the diffuser away from the hive and without rushing.
