12 V BATTERY DIRECT | 150 W POTENCIA |
2,5 min PER SUBLIMATION | 8 mm CUP HEIGHT |
A vaporiser that runs straight off a 12 V battery, with no inverter and no generator in between.
It is the entry-level option: 150 W, an 8 mm cup and a little under two and a half minutes per sublimation. Slower than the 220 V machines, but it clips onto the car battery and the power problem disappears.
01 · WHY STRAIGHT 12 V
The 220 V vaporisers make you set up a whole chain at the apiary: generator or inverter, and mind the cable length. This one runs straight on 12 V, so the car battery is the entire installation. At 150 W, the draw is around 12.5 amps, half of what a 300 W machine asks for through an inverter. For anyone with a middling apiary who does not want to invest in a generator, that is the whole difference.
02 · THE PACE
Worth being clear about before you buy. A full sublimation takes under two and a half minutes, against the twenty or twenty-five seconds of the 220 V machines. That is the trade-off for working at 150 W instead of 300. On an apiary of thirty hives that makes for a perfectly manageable day; on one of three hundred, the sums come out very differently and the machine you want is another.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The battery is not included: the car battery will do, or any 12 V battery with enough capacity. And the cup the product goes into is 8 mm tall, which is the measurement that sets how much fits per application.
| ✓ FITS | Small and medium apiaries with no mains and no generator, working off a 12 V battery. |
| ✕ DOESN'T FIT | Large operations where time per hive rules: there the machine is a 220 V one. |
| ⚠ NOT INCLUDED | The 12 V battery, the protective equipment or any medicine. |
Full protective equipment, and it is mandatory. Respirator with a suitable filter, goggles, gloves and a suit. Oxalic acid vapour attacks the airways, the eyes and the skin, and here you are at the hive for more than two minutes per application.
Registered medicines only. In Spain the only registered oxalic acid medicines that may be sublimated are Api-Bioxal and Varroxal; in other countries check what is authorised locally. The dose and the procedure are those on the current data sheet of whichever medicine you use — we do not set them.
The use of pure oxalic acid — as impregnated wipes, sublimated, or in home-made strips — is not an authorised application, and in Spain it carries criminal and administrative liability. This shop accepts no responsibility for improper use of the device.
