Pallet of 3,072 B250 glass jars of 250 ml with a Twist Off TO 66 finish. Each jar weighs 150 g and measures 71.8 mm across by 84 mm tall. Lid not included.
A 250 ml jar holds 350 grams of honey. Millilitres are volume and honey is sold by weight: that is the conversion to be clear about.
01 · 350 GRAMS, NOT 250
Nominal capacity is 250 ml, but honey has a density of 1.4 kg per litre. That turns those 250 ml into 335 to 350 g of honey, depending on the moisture and temperature of the product.
It is the format normally labelled as a 350 g jar. If you are printing labels, that is the number that goes on them — not the millilitres.
02 · 3,072 JARS WEIGH SOMETHING
Each jar is 150 g of glass, so the full pallet comes to over 450 kg before a drop of honey goes in. This is not a load you unload by hand.
Before ordering, have it worked out where it lands and with what: you need a pallet truck or a forklift, and firm ground to move it on.
03 · THE LID IS SEPARATE
The jar has a Twist Off TO 66 finish and the lid is bought separately. It is the most widespread standard, so there is plenty of choice in colour and finish, but you have to order it in the same order or the pallet arrives with nothing to seal it.
The Twist Off seal is what gives you tightness: it preserves aroma, prevents oxidation and keeps moisture out — and moisture is what decides whether honey ferments.
04 · NOT ONLY FOR HONEY
The B250 is a standard food-industry container, not one exclusive to beekeeping: it is used just the same for jams, pickles, preserves and sauces. Which means lids and machinery are easy to find.
The clear glass shows the product as it is, which is half the sale on a market stall, and its mechanical strength takes both hand handling and an automatic bottling line.
05 · BEFORE YOU BUY
That is over 450 kg of glass: make sure how you will unload it. And order the TO 66 lids in the same order.
