A 70 mm plastic disc with four positions: open, closed, ventilation and queen excluder.
This is the part that turns a hole into a decision. It fits on the entrance or screws over the crown board hole and, by turning it, you change what can pass through without opening the hive or touching a frame.
01 · THE FOUR POSITIONS
Open, closed, ventilation and excluder, by turning the disc
Open lets every bee through. Closed lets nothing through — the transport setting. Ventilation is the mesh: air passes, the bee does not, which is what you need with the hive shut for a move or in a freshly made nuc. And queen excluder lets the worker out and holds the queen back, the setting you work with in queen rearing and for governing the passage between brood box and super.
02 · FITTING
On the entrance or over the crown board hole
It goes on the entrance or is screwed over the hole in the crown board, depending on what you want to govern: flight or internal passage. The disc is 85 mm across and leaves a working opening of 70 mm; the hole you mount it over has to fall within that.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
Check the hole first — it is the only thing that can go wrong
It is a simple, inexpensive part, and the only possible incompatibility is geometric: if the hole in your crown board or entrance is over 70 mm, the disc will not cover it. Measure it before ordering several.

If you are thinking of buying instant vap OA vaporizer these are a must. Makes vaping easy.
Also easy to close if transporting bees.
Best for a 5 frame hive.
It's a bit small for standard hive size
