HAND GRIP

FG18 frame grip with an SS201 stainless-steel frame, wooden hand grip and two pairs of toothed jaws that hold the frame top bar at two points.

It lifts a frame after it has been freed. It does not replace a hive tool: pulling while propolis still locks the lugs loads both frame and mechanism.

01 · PREPARE THE FRAME

Break the propolis seal at both ends first

Create working space by shifting a side frame, then free both lugs with a hive tool. Never use the jaws as a pry bar or try to tear out a frame that is still stuck.

02 · GRIP AND LIFT

All four jaws must seat together

Lower the grip centrally over the top bar and check that both jaw pairs seat without trapping bees. Lift slowly by the wooden grip; the linkage closes the jaws. Test the hold a few centimetres above the box, then raise vertically without swinging or twisting and guide with your free hand. Set the frame down fully before release.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Langstroth and Dadant, subject to a top-bar check

LTA lists FG18 for Langstroth and Dadant frames, but Benefitbee gives no jaw-opening range, accepted top-bar thickness or rated load. Verify the actual fit before lifting a loaded frame. Remove wax and propolis from teeth and pivots, dry the metal and wood, and inspect springs, fasteners, play and deformation before reuse.

SUITABLEMovable Langstroth or Dadant frames whose top bar seats in all four jaws.
CHECKJaw opening, top-bar thickness, spring condition and symmetrical closure before loading.
DO NOT USEAs a hive tool, on stuck frames, for hive bodies, several frames or unrelated loads.
