Double-row natural horsehair bee brush with a dark wooden handle, 45 × 7 cm: the harvest brush, the one that clears a full frame of bees in one stroke.

Two rows of natural horsehair: firm enough to sweep and soft enough not to break wings, and without the static of synthetic bristle that makes bees nervous.

01 · THE BRUSH

Horsehair in two rows, 45 cm handle

The double row covers in one sweep what a single row covers in two, and at harvest that is pace. Horsehair moves the bees without damaging wings or legs and does not build up static as it rubs. Sweep downwards, in short strokes and without dwelling: the more you brush, the angrier they get.

02 · THE HANDLE

Dark wood, with a hanging hole

One-piece dark wooden handle with a hanging hole, easy to spot in the grass if dropped. The tip is thin: one review broke it dropping it on something hard, so it is not one to throw on the ground. Others, after two seasons, call it as good as new.

03 · CARE AND ALTERNATIVES

Wash lukewarm, dry on its edge

Honey mats the hair: lukewarm water when you finish and dry on its edge. After a hive with suspected disease, wash it before the next one. To part frames without putting it down, the BR01 is this same brush with a hook on the tip; for queen rearing and fine work, the single-row one.

The brush alone is supplied, ready to use.

✓ FITS	Harvest and intensive handling: clearing frames of bees fast and without harm, in apiaries of 30 hives or more.
✕ DOESN’T FIT	Fine work over brood or in mating nucs: better the single-row brush. And dropping it on stone: the tip is thin.
