Double-row bee brush in natural horsehair with a metal hook on the tip of the handle, 47 × 7.5 cm: it sweeps the bees off and, turned round, parts frames or lifts the crown board without putting it down.

It is the usual double-row brush with the tool you drop on the ground most often built into the handle.

01 · THE BRUSH

Horsehair, in two rows

Two rows of natural horsehair, soft and firm at once: it moves the bees without breaking wings or legs and does not build up static like synthetic bristle. Sweep downwards, in short strokes and without dwelling on the same bee: the more you brush, the angrier they get.

02 · THE HOOK

For the first stuck frame and the crown board

The other end carries a curved metal hook: it parts the first frame glued with propolis, lifts a corner of the crown board or scrapes a burr of wax without reaching for the hive tool. It is fine, for what two fingers of force will solve: serious levering is still the hive tool’s job.

03 · CARE

Wash after the harvest and dry on its edge

Honey mats the hair: wash in lukewarm water when you finish and dry it on its edge. After a hive with suspected disease, wash it before moving to the next: it is what touches the bees most.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

If you already carry a multi-purpose hive tool on your belt, the BR11 without hook is the same brush.
