Details of Frame grip standard

Universal hive tool in steel — the basic tool that goes in every workbench and every apiary visit pocket. Combines frame-grip clamp for one-handed lifting with spatula tip to scrape wax and propolis from the hive walls. Compatible with any format (Langstroth, Dadant, Layens). For beekeepers with 5-50 hives who need the everyday tool without paying for articulated leverage or premium claws.

🤲 Unstick and lift frames with one hand

In hive inspection you spend 80 % of the time unsticking frames glued with propolis and wax and lifting them for inspection. The hive-tool clamp grips the frame by its top bar, the lever of the tool acts as a fulcrum against the neighbouring frame and a firm move releases the frame without bending it or disturbing the bees. The spatula tip on the opposite end scrapes wax and propolis from the bottom, walls and crown board, or separates frames before extracting them.

📐 Universal — fits any format

The clamps are sized for standard 2.5 cm top bars — the thickness of Langstroth, Spanish Dadant, Dadant Blatt and Layens frames. Works for all hives in the catalogue without needing format-specific tools. For beekeepers with a mixed apiary (some Langstroth, some Layens), one tool covers everything.

💡 When to choose the universal and when to step up

This model (FG07, ~€7) covers 90 % of cases. If you work in cold areas where frames have been closed for months and the propolis is concrete-hard, consider the PRO hive tool with articulated leverage (FG09): the leverage multiplies the lifting force and reduces the risk of bending the top bar. If frames slip from your hands (sweaty hands in summer, poorly Hoffman-spaced frames), the FG13 with lower handle and toothed clamps gives more grip.
