Details of Frame gripper Pro USA Pierce®

Pierce cast-aluminium frame gripper for holding a frame top bar and lifting it with one hand after the propolis seal has been broken with a hive tool.

The guided pivot, twin steel springs and broad-grip handle are designed for smooth opening and closing. It is assembled in the USA and Pierce provides a two-year manufacturer warranty.

01 · HOW IT WORKS

Two jaws close around the top bar

Place the jaws on both sides of the top bar and squeeze until they bear fully and evenly. Lift the frame vertically without sudden twisting. The gripper helps hold the frame; it does not replace visual control and should not carry a frame when one jaw is only partly seated.

02 · BEFORE LIFTING

Break the propolis seal with a hive tool first

Propolis can bind top bars, spacers and hive walls. Separate those points before pulling: using the gripper as a lever loads the pivot, marks the wood and can release the frame suddenly. With heavy honey frames, support the lift with the other hand whenever possible.

03 · CONSTRUCTION

Cast aluminium, stainless hardware and twin springs

Pierce makes the body from thick, high-quality cast aluminium. The nuts and bolt are stainless steel and the two springs are steel. The guided pivot keeps both halves aligned; periodically check that the bolt remains secure and both springs move without distortion.

04 · ACTUAL FIT

Hive type does not replace checking the top-bar profile

The shop currently positions it for Langstroth and Dadant frames, but Pierce does not publish a usable opening range. Before ordering, check that the jaws can enter on both sides of the top bar and close without touching comb or resting on one edge only. Frame and spacer variants can alter the fit.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Remove propolis before it blocks the pivot

Clean residue with the tool closed and keep fingers out of the jaws. Do not use blows, direct flame or solvents that may affect the finish. One gripper is supplied; hive tool, frames and hive are not included. Pierce states a two-year manufacturer warranty.
