Hive tool with lower handle and toothed clamps in lacquered carbon steel. Toothed clamps grip firmly even with sweaty hands or non-Hoffman frames, and the lower handle stabilises the move. For Langstroth and Dadant. When the FG07 slips, this is the solution. NOT for Layens (different format).
Hive tool with lower handle and toothed clamps in lacquered carbon steel — the solution for beekeepers whose frames slip with the traditional hive tool. The toothed clamps grip firmly even with sweaty hands or frames without clear Hoffman shoulders, and the lower handle adds a second support point that stabilises the extraction movement.
On the traditional hive tool (FG07 or FG09), the clamps are smooth — they work well with dry top bars and firm hands. But in summer with sweaty hands, on frames with very worn top bars that have lost their right angle, or on frames without Hoffman where you have to hold the frame while extracting it sideways, smooth clamps can slip and release the frame mid-manoeuvre (with the unpleasant consequence of crushing bees or breaking the comb). The toothed clamps of the FG13 make a firm mechanical grip — the frame does not let go until you decide to release it.
The other differentiator of the FG13 is the lower handle: a second piece that lets you support the weight of the frame with the other hand while the upper clamp grips it. Result: the extraction movement is more controlled and less tiring, especially with frames full of honey (4-5 kg each in a full Langstroth super). For a beekeeper opening 20-30 hives in a row in full summer, this significantly reduces forearm fatigue.
FG07 (universal, € 7): the basic, firm hands and standard frames. FG09 PRO (leverage, € 9.83): when the problem is unsticking force (hard propolis, cold areas). FG13 (handle+toothed, € 9.50): when the problem is grip (sweat, worn top bars, weight of full frames). Carbon steel colour-lacquered (more visible if dropped on the apiary ground, does not blend with wood). Compatible especially with Langstroth and Dadant frames — not for Layens (very different format).
