What to order alongside the valve

The DIN 11851 system joins a male and a female by tightening a union nut over the gasket. With both ends male, the valve sits in the middle of the circuit and needs a nut on each side: one towards the tank or the pump and one towards the hose or the packing line.

In exchange, that configuration is the most versatile: with the male outward, any accessory of the same standard couples to it without odd adapters. But it is worth counting the nuts and gaskets before the order arrives.

02 · THE 140 °C BELONG TO THE VALVE

They are not the honey's temperature

The stated range of −20 to 140 °C is what the part withstands, and it exists mainly so it can be cleaned with very hot water or steam. Honey allows nothing of the sort: above 40 °C the HMF rises and the diastase falls, and both are measured in the analysis.

Put another way: the 140 °C are for the cleaning cycle, not for the product. It is the same criterion as with heaters and decrystallisers — the catalogue figure describes the appliance, not what passes through it.

03 · DIN 11851 IS NOT CLAMP

Two sanitary standards that do not meet

A honey house often runs both the DIN 11851 thread and the Clamp fitting, and they are not interchangeable: a DIN male does not fit a Tri-Clamp ferrule. Before ordering, look at which system the installation carries.

It opens with a quarter turn on the lever, comfortable with gloves and with the position in plain sight, and the bore is clear when open. What wears out over the years is the disc seal: that is the part to check when it starts dripping with the valve closed.
