Details of Replacement silicone gasket

Replacement gasket in clear food-grade silicone for honey-house fittings, in Ø40 and Ø50 mm. Fits extractors, transfer pumps, settling tanks and bottling machines.

A gasket is chosen by the fitting, not by the hose. Ø40 and Ø50 are the two standard sizes, and there is nothing in between.

01 · CHOOSE IT BY THE FITTING

Look at the tap, not the tube

Measure the fitting on the machine, which is where the gasket seats. Extractor taps and transfer pumps are usually Ø40 mm; higher-flow lines and some bottling machines run Ø50.

The hose diameter can be something else: what has to match is the face of the fitting.

02 · TIGHTER DOES NOT SEAL BETTER

A crushed gasket splits

When a fitting drips, the reflex is to tighten the clamp. With a hardened gasket that will not seal: it crushes it against the edge and finishes the job of breaking it.

Silicone is changed when it loses its spring, not when it drips. If it no longer recovers its shape, or has kept the imprint of the fitting, it is done.

03 · WHY SILICONE

It takes the hot water of cleaning

Honey-house cleaning means hot water, and that is where ordinary rubber dies: it swells, hardens and cracks within a season.

Food-grade silicone keeps its elasticity, adds no taste and takes contact with honey and syrups. Store spares loose, not fitted and compressed all winter, or they take the shape of the fitting.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Check the diameter of your machine's fitting, not the hose, and keep a spare before extraction day.
