Wooden frame feeder for Mini Plus nucs: it hangs in the place of a frame and holds about 0.8 litres of syrup next to the cluster. Body about 215 × 159 mm and 251 mm top bar.
In a Mini Plus the feed has to sit inside the warm volume and without spills: a nuc this small chills and gets robbed over very little.
01 · WHAT IT IS
A wooden box with the size of a Mini Plus frame. It takes one of the six positions in the body and fits the wooden and polystyrene Mini Plus that use the 217 × 159 mm frame: measure a frame of yours before ordering. Declared capacity about 0.8 litres: short rations, the ones a mini nuc uses up before they ferment.
02 · HOW TO USE IT
Fill it with warm syrup without overflowing and close the nuc. Inside goes a float, cork or a piece of plastic mesh, so the bees drink without drowning. Refill what it will use before the next visit: half a litre left for weeks turns sour.
03 · CARE
The wood comes untreated: sealing the inside with molten wax or a food-safe varnish stops the syrup soaking through the joints. Between uses, empty it, wash without soaking the joints and dry completely; check staples and glue every season.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
The box alone is supplied: the float and the sealing are up to you.
