Details of Galvanized funnel for mating hive

Galvanised sheet-steel funnel for guiding bees into swarm boxes, a Multibox or containers with a compatible round opening. The broad cone directs brushing towards a controlled outlet.

The cylindrical outlet is 70 mm and the technical data sheet specifies openings of about 75 mm. Before handling bees, check support, stability and container ventilation.

01 · COMPATIBILITY

Ø70 mm outlet for openings of about Ø75 mm

A box that merely looks compatible is not enough: measure the opening and check that the collar sits steadily without an escape gap. The data sheet lists swarm boxes, Multiboxes and boxes used for bee packages or nuc formation. The funnel does not include a box or adaptor.

02 · STEP-BY-STEP USE

Seat, stabilise and brush in a steady flow

Place the box on a firm base, in shade and with sufficient ventilation. Seat the outlet, immobilise the assembly and guide bees into the cone with gentle brushing, without compressing them or striking the metal. Watch the outlet and stop if a plug begins to form. Remove the funnel and close the box according to the transport or introduction procedure.

03 · BEE HANDLING

A transfer tool, not a capture guarantee

The funnel helps direct already controlled bees into a container; it does not attract swarms, catch the queen by itself or ensure nuc acceptance. Wear beekeeping protection, control the working area and do not improvise high-level or hazardous urban swarm collections.

04 · MATERIAL AND CARE

Galvanised sheet steel: rigid but vulnerable to dents

The cone is galvanised steel. Prevent dents around the outlet because they alter the fit and create gaps. After use, remove wax and propolis without abrasive tools, dry thoroughly and store away from moisture and corrosive products. Do not use it as a lever or transport container.

Confirm opening, working space and the closure sequence

Declared dimensions: 450 mm cone inlet, 70 mm outlet and 390 mm height. Allow room to seat it without tilting and prepare the box closure before starting. One funnel is supplied; box, brush, protective equipment and straps are not included.
