Double-compartment Layens mating nuc to manage two separate mating units within the same box.
Includes central divider, two entrances, independent feeding and four special half-frames that join together to form two full Layens super frames.
01 · TWO UNITS, TWO ROUTINES
The divider and entrances allow two small groups to be organised separately. Mark the entrances with different orientations or visual cues and check the seal of the divider before introducing bees. The nuc provides the housing; mating success also depends on colony population, feed, drones, weather and management.
02 · FEEDING AND FRAMES
Each side has a paraffin-treated top feeder, a metal sheet and an anti-drowning system. Check the level without spilling syrup onto the divider, and adapt the feeding plan to the colony population. The four half frames are specific to this set: check how they fit together before moving them to conventional Layens equipment.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
It is constructed from laminated water-resistant HDF board, but that does not equate to unlimited exposure nor does it make maintenance unnecessary. If you need to integrate it into an existing Layens system, first confirm the external dimensions, ventilation, transport closure and the exact measurements of its special half-frames.
