01 · SUCTION IS THE SETTING

How to find the point

It is a pneumatic separator: pollen weighs more than the debris — dust, wax fragments, legs, remains — so with the right suction the light material goes up and the grain falls out below into a bucket or a bag.

The setting is the whole craft, which is why a vacuum with a power regulator helps. The method: start low, raise it gradually until pollen starts leaving through the nozzle, and drop back one notch. That is your setting for that batch.

02 · DRY FIRST, THEN CLEAN

The order of the process

Pollen comes out of the trap damp, and damp it does not separate: the grains clump, they weigh irregularly and the airflow cannot tell them apart. On top of that, undried it ferments.

So the order is: dry first, at gentle heat, and clean afterwards. Putting freshly collected pollen through the cleaner is wasted time and a dirty vacuum.

03 · OWN USE MEANS OWN USE

How far this equipment goes

The name says it and it is worth taking seriously: this is a solution for your own consumption. The vacuum you use is not certified food equipment, and the separation does not reach that of an industrial cleaner with screens and air classification.

To have your own pollen clean at home it is perfect and costs a fraction. If you are going to sell packed pollen, the equipment is another one. And even for own use: a clean vacuum with a new bag or filter, because the air goes through there.

04 · 18 CM FUNNEL AND A TABLE

What it takes up and how it sets up

The 18 cm funnel is where the pollen goes in, and the assembly is 60 cm tall with its stand: it works upright on a table without anyone holding it.

It comes with two conical adapters that fit most European vacuums. The whole body is food-grade plastic, so the pollen touches nothing it should not.
