Dry pollen cleaner with two oscillating sieves (3×3 and 1×1 mm mesh) and a centrifugal fan: it separates by calibre and by weight in one pass, sending dust and wings down one chute and clean pollen down the other. Independent speed controls for sieves and fan. Up to 60 kg/h. Powder-coated body, stainless steel where the pollen touches. 22 kg. Pollen must go in dry.

Details of Pollen Cleaner LYSON OPTIMA

Pollen never comes off the trap clean: it carries dust shed by the pellets themselves, wings and legs, wax debris and plant fragments picked up at the entrance. That light fraction is what costs the batch its value the moment the buyer opens the bag. The OPTIMA handles that stage with two oscillating sieves and a centrifugal fan, separating by size and by weight in a single pass — dust and wings down one chute, clean pollen down the other.

⚙️ Two different separations in a single pass

Pollen is fed through the top hopper and drops onto a set of two movable sieves in stainless steel mesh with 0.5 mm wire and apertures of 3×3 mm and 1×1 mm. The coarse mesh holds back lumps, wax and plant debris; the fine one lets the pollen dust through. At the same time, the centrifugal fan with four flat blades crosses the fall and carries the light fraction — wings, legs, chaff — to the reject chute. Clean pollen leaves through the 245 × 205 mm outlet.

🎛️ Two independent controls, not one

The panel carries two separate potentiometers: one governs sieve speed, the other fan revolutions. This is not a frill. An oil seed rape pellet does not weigh the same as a heather one, and the airflow that leaves one batch spotless will blow the next one away. With separate controls you set the flow across the mesh first and the air afterwards, until the reject comes out dirty and the pollen comes out whole. Sieve inclination is adjustable as well, to lengthen or shorten the time the product spends on the mesh.

⚠️ The pollen has to go in dry

The manufacturer states this as a condition of use, not as advice: pollen must be thoroughly dry before cleaning. With moisture the pellets cake, blind the mesh and stop behaving as loose particles, so neither the sieve nor the air separates properly. The usual process reference sits between 6 and 8 % moisture; above 10 % the risk of fermentation in storage rises. Worth being clear about: this machine cleans and grades, but it does not dry, freeze or sterilise pollen.

🔧 Painted sheet outside, stainless where the pollen touches

The body is built in powder-coated steel sheet, while the parts in contact with the product — hopper, sieves and chutes — are acid-resistant stainless steel. That combination is why it stays at 22 kg rather than the forty-odd of an all-stainless chassis: one person puts it on the bench and takes it off again. Wash it with hot water and agents permitted in the food industry, protecting the electrical components and drying it before storage.

🍯 What harvest volume it covers

At up to 60 kg/h, the OPTIMA sits on the middle rung: more machine than an air-column cleaner for home use, less than a honey house unit with a 45 litre hopper. Its 900 × 400 × 650 mm fit on an ordinary bench. It runs indoors only and needs at least 5 °C ambient to start; store it dry and above 0 °C. One honest handling note: since it separates by calibre and by weight, any foreign body of similar size and density to a pellet — a small stone, a chalkbrood mummy — can get through the sieving, so a visual check before packing is still needed.
