01 · THE PERFORATIONS

Two millimetres spread over the whole tub

The 2 mm holes are spread across the whole surface, not only the base. That keeps constant air movement around the load and stops moisture building up in the middle, which is where fermentation starts. With this crate the pollen travels aired from the trap to the drying room instead of sweating inside a closed bucket.

02 · THE CAPACITY

Nine kilos, and why not to fill it higher

It holds up to 9 kg level in its 15 litres. Filling above the rim brings two problems: the crate above crushes the pollen when stacked, and the middle layer stops breathing. Empty it weighs 900 grams, so loaded it moves with one hand and stacks without drama on the trailer or the honey-room bench.

03 · THE MATERIAL

Smooth, inert and with no memory of smells

Food-grade high-density polyethylene absorbs neither smells nor residues, and its smooth surface cleans and disinfects quickly. That is what stops this year's harvest carrying traces of the last one. Wash and dry it between batches, and store it stacked upside down so it does not gather dust inside.

04 · ITS PLACE IN THE CHAIN

Transport and airing, not long storage

It is the crate for the stretch between the pollen trap and the drier, and also the airing tray before drying. What it is not is a storage container: fresh pollen gets dried or frozen, and this crate replaces neither step. Think of it as the means of transport that does not spoil what it carries.
