Fast lighting, no kindling needed

The block is pre-scored into 8 sticks that snap apart by hand. Stand one upright, bring a flame to the tip, and the paraffin-bound sawdust catches on its own. No newspaper, corrugated cardboard or dry leaves required — one motion, three minutes, ember ready. Especially useful when wind keeps blowing out the cardboard on your second attempt.

Steady white smoke, no sparks

The burn is slow and even because the bar is dry-pressed: no air pockets to speed the burn, no resin to throw sparks. The smoke comes out white, dense and cool — exactly what you need to settle the colony without stressing them. Compatible with pine cones, pellets or wood shavings if you want to stretch a long session by piling them on top.

Reusable: one stick can cover two visits

If you finish the inspection and the stick is only half-burned, pull it out, smother the ember in open air (never with water — that ruins the rest) and save it for next time. On small apiaries of 5-10 colonies, one stick usually covers two short sessions.

Smoker compatibility

Fits any standard beekeeper smoker (European or American format, manual or electric bellows, National-size or larger). For miniature models you may need to break the stick in half so it sits properly.
