01 · IT'S NOT FOR CARRYING IT LIT

It is what puts it out

The smoker goes inside so that it burns itself out. Once closed, the box stops feeding air to the embers and the fire smothers: that is exactly what you want before it goes in the car.

The close-fitting lid is what holds the smoke and sparks in meanwhile. Do not put it out with water first: wetting the ash inside the smoker is how you make sure it will not light next time.

02 · IT IS STILL HOT

What the box does not change

It reduces the risk, it does not remove it. With the smoker inside, the steel heats up and the whole thing takes a good while to cool.

So it goes on the floor of the boot or of the van, never on a seat or against anything that burns, and it is not opened until it is cold. The top handle is for carrying it without touching the sides.

03 · WHAT ELSE FITS INSIDE

The apiary toolbox

With 37.5 cm of height the smoker stands upright and there is still room for the hive tool, the knife or the brush. All together, and no loose ash around the boot.

The 0.8 mm stainless steel takes the heat and cleans up: tar condenses inside, just as it does in the smoker's spout, and it is worth scraping out now and then.
