Stainless steel cutting plate, spare for the roller of the Carl Fritz 5130000 universal vertical uncapper, with a 6 mm mounting; sold singly. In a roller uncapper the plates do the work: each scrapes a strip of cappings, and when one bends or loses its edge the machine stops cutting clean.
A worn plate makes no noise: you see it in the cappings, torn instead of shaved, and in the unopened patches that give no honey in the extractor.
01 · HOW TO KNOW IT IS YOURS
What decides compatibility is the 6 mm mounting diameter, where the plate fixes to the roller shaft. Before ordering, take one of yours off and measure that seat: if it is 6 mm, this is it. If your uncapper works with chains instead of a plate roller, as some vertical models do, the part is not for it.
02 · WHEN TO CHANGE IT
It bends with a badly presented frame or a loose wire, and nicks with use. When checking the roller, any bent, nicked or round-edged plate is replaced; battered comb and torn cappings are the sign. With the machine unplugged, change them one by one keeping the neighbours’ position, and turn the roller by hand before starting.
03 · KEEP THEM TO HAND
Worth keeping a couple of spares in the honey house: they are cheap and the failure shows in mid-harvest, with frames on the bench and the extractor waiting. The machine’s page, 43, carries the other spares and the maker’s manual.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
One plate is supplied; the Carl Fritz uncapper is 43.
