01 · BLUETOOTH MEANS GOING THERE

And for many that is enough

The scale and the sensors record hourly and keep the history. To see it you have to go to the apiary and sync with the app on your phone or tablet.

There is no live data, and that is the whole difference from the kit with a hub. In exchange there is no subscription: you buy once and there is no annual fee. For anyone who passes by the apiary weekly, the information arrives just as timely.

02 · WHAT IT MEASURES

Total weight and nest temperature

The wooden W scale records the whole hive weight hourly, which is where you read the nectar coming in, the winter consumption of stores and the abrupt events: swarming or robbing leave an unmistakable step in the curve.

The two T2 sensors go inside. Putting one in each hive lets you compare two colonies in the same apiary, which is the quickest way to know whether a problem is one hive's or everybody's.

03 · WHAT THE SENSOR CANNOT SEE

It measures temperature, not queens

The nest holds around 34.5 °C because the bees thermoregulate it. If that stability is lost, something has changed — queenlessness, a break in laying, a shrunken colony — but the sensor tells you that something happened and when, not what.

You still have to open up. What changes is that you open knowing where to look, and leave the ones doing fine alone.

04 · IT CAN BE EXTENDED

The hub gets added later

If later on you want the data without travelling, the BroodMinder hub is bought separately and these same sensors start transmitting remotely on the Premium plan.

In other words: starting here does not close the door. You pay for connectivity when it is genuinely needed, not before.

This kit gives no live data. If what you need is to find out without going, the one with the hub is the other one.
