White double-layer polyamide beekeeping jacket, with a round detachable veil and zips throughout.

In summer the problem with a jacket is not protection, it is heat: the garment that best takes a sting is usually the one you cannot wear in August. This one plays the other hand — light polyamide in two layers instead of thick fabric.

01 · FABRIC

Two separated layers work better than one thick one

Polyamide is a smooth fabric on which the bee slides and cannot grip, so she struggles to settle and sting. And because it comes in two layers, a gap sits between the outer cloth and your skin: a sting through the outer layer meets air, not arm. The veil is round and detachable — take it off to wash and to store without the mesh deforming — and the zips run the length of the jacket.

02 · WHICH SIZE?

Measure your chest and compare with the half measurement

The ½ chest row in the data sheet is the garment measured flat, seam to seam: double it and compare with your own girth, leaving room for what you wear underneath. There is also a 3XL above these three.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

What a beekeeping garment can and cannot do

No garment removes the risk of a sting entirely: the double layer and the slippery weave reduce it a great deal, but a bee can find a zip left open or a spot where the fabric sits against the skin. Where the mesh touches your face she stings through it: it is the gap that protects you. If you are allergic, carry your medication whatever you are wearing.
