Honey Rustler by BJ Sherriff Original

Designed and manufactured in the UK by the well-known English family firm BJ SHERRIFF since 1968. The original design of its mask, its finishes, the comfort and lightness, as well as the safety it provides, are what set this jacket apart. Khaki is the bestseller of the Sherriff UK brand. Its history is curious since it was developed specifically for New Zealand beekeepers who were engaged in pollination of Kiwi fruit trees at night. They realized that the typical white suit attracted bees by the glow of the moonlight. It was a recommendation of thousands of professional beekeepers and hobists. In addition it is a very clean colour because the stains do not stand out so much.

To pick a size, the chest measurement is what matters: being a jacket, there is no leg length to get right, only the torso. BJ Sherriff's chart starts from the wearer's actual chest and cuts the garment a good deal wider, which is where the reputation for coming up large comes from. Two things worth knowing, both from the maker's own spec sheet: the veil mesh is knitted nylon and the zips are YKK. For washing, the jacket goes in at 30 °C and line-dries — no bleach, no tumble dryer — and the veil is always washed by hand, which is what keeps the mesh going season after season.
