Details of 60W LEGROC Wax Foundation Wire Embedder Transformer

For embedding frame wire into wax foundation quickly, with adjustable power and without burning the sheet

A properly embedded wire is the difference between a comb that survives a hundred spins in the extractor and one that collapses on the first run. This wire embedder transformer passes current through the steel wire, heating it until the wax foundation melts right along the contact line, sealing the wire in without warping the sheet. With a bit of practice, you can fix every frame in a whole super in minutes.

⚙️ Two-level power regulation

A front-mounted selector with two positions, HIGH and LOW, lets you adjust the current that reaches the wire. Use LOW when the workshop is warm, the wax is soft, or the wire is thin — it embeds without overheating. Use HIGH for thicker stainless steel wire or winter sessions where the wax is harder and LOW falls short. Pick the setting and get on with the job, no trial and error.

🔧 Copper coil, not aluminium

The internal coil is copper, which dissipates heat better and holds up to more cycles without losing performance. Transformers with aluminium coils overheat in long sessions and force you to pause every few frames. With copper, the unit keeps pace with the beekeeper, not the other way round.

🔄 Works with galvanized and stainless steel wire

Compatible with both common wire types: galvanized wire (cheaper, the classic option) and stainless steel wire (rustproof, recommended if you work damp honeys like heather or reuse frames over many seasons). Stainless steel has higher resistivity, so it calls for the HIGH setting to melt the wax at the right pace.

💡 How to use it

Plug it in, choose HIGH or LOW, clip the crocodile clips onto both ends of the already-tensioned frame wire, wait for the wire to heat and the wax to melt along the contact line, then unclip. A couple of seconds per frame. The wax cools instantly and the wire sits embedded in the sheet without marks or distortion.
