Separate uncapping bench or an integrated unit

The 60 cm and 125 cm uncapping benches provide different working surfaces. Alongside their footprint, allow room for supers and frame movement between uncapping and extraction.

The four-frame combined unit brings a bench and powered extractor into one body, concentrating the two operations. If an existing bench is suitable, the standalone electric extractor lets you replace only that part of the equipment.

Motor drive and basket design are separate choices

The four-frame manual extractor has a tangential basket, working one face at a time and requiring frames to be turned. A motorised tangential model removes hand cranking, but not frame turning. Self-turning models have baskets that change orientation inside the drum.

Check the permitted frame height and width for each model. A capacity stated in shallow frames cannot be treated as the same capacity in brood frames or extended to every hive format.

Clothing: choose the veil and inspect closures

The suits include round and fencing-style veil options. Compare visibility, clearance between mesh and face, and fit while moving. Follow garment washing instructions and remove the veil where specified. Checking mesh and zips helps identify wear before entering the apiary.
