LEGROC 4-frame tangential electric honey extractor in 304 food-grade stainless steel. Motor frees you from the crank — the logical step up from 10-15 to 30-50 hives. Tangential basket takes Langstroth, Dadant brood, Layens and shallow supers (up to 370 mm). Polycarbonate lid, Ø 40 mm welded gate at 370 mm ground clearance. Progressive speed for dense honeys (heather, chestnut, eucalyptus).
The logical step from crank to motor — pure electric extractor, without the extra cost of an integrated uncapping bench.
When you scale from 10-15 hives to 30-50, the crank starts charging its price: back pain at the end of day two, slowness that stretches the workday, fatigue that stacks up. This 4-frame electric extractor is the logical step at that point. Same robust LEGROC build —body, basket, gate and mechanism in 304 food-grade stainless steel, transparent polycarbonate cover—, but with an integrated electric motor that removes crank fatigue and frees you to do other honey-house tasks while the basket spins.
The motor drives the tangential basket with smooth, uniform torque, without the step-force of a hand-turned crank. That matters for the comb: progressive starts, clean ramps, less comb tearing. And while the basket spins, you can uncap frames, filter honey, prepare the next load —in parallel, not in series. The tangential system stays: each frame rests completely against the grid and is extracted one face at a time, protecting the comb on dense honeys (heather, mature eucalyptus, chestnut) versus small radial extractors where frames work without support.
The basket takes frames up to 370 × 47 mm (height × support width). That covers the three main Spanish formats without swapping cages or adapters: Dadant brood frames (27 cm), Langstroth/Perfección (20 cm), Layens (30 cm) and all supers (13-17 cm). That versatility is a LEGROC signature: one extractor for the full yearly cycle, regardless of the dominant format in your operation.
With fluid honeys (spring multi-flower, sunflower, orange blossom) you can go straight to medium-high. With dense or high-moisture honeys (heather above all, chestnut, mature eucalyptus), start progressively: low 2-3 min, medium 3-4 min, max 2 min. Two reasons: freshly worked comb is hot and fragile —a sudden start tears it on the first frame of the day—, and dense honey comes out in layers and needs time. Rule of thumb: if you hear vibration or see the basket wobble, drop speed —tangential extractors compensate poorly for uneven loads.
Everything that touches honey is 304 food-grade stainless steel: drum body, tangential basket, gearbox, emergency crank, honey gate, fasteners. Sheet thickness 0.8 mm, semi-professional robustness without excessive vibration. Iron legs with anti-corrosion powder coating — withstand the humid honey-house environment without rusting. Transparent polycarbonate cover lets you monitor the spin visually without splashes. Dimensions: Ø 640 × 625 mm. Gate welded to the body (not bolted —avoids gasket leaks): 40 mm diameter, 370 mm tap height from the floor, perfect to fit a ripener or drum underneath.
The BHE3-4D makes sense in two scenarios: (1) moving from manual to electric because the hive count has made the crank heavy, and (2) you already have a separate uncapping bench and don't need to integrate it with the extractor. If you're still handling 10-15 hives and the crank doesn't weigh on you, the BHE1-4D manual saves money without sacrificing work —same basket, same materials, no motor. If you need to integrate uncapping + extraction in a single unit (small honey house, solo operation), the BHE7-4D combined adds the uncapping bench in the same body with a single gate valve.
