Galvanised metal roof in 0.60 mm sheet with a 105 mm skirt, for fixed-floor Dadant Blatt hives in the French format: a 435 × 510 mm footprint over 25 mm walls. The deep skirt leaves room for a top feeder without propping the roof up. It does not fit Langstroth or Dadant US, which have a different footprint.

Galvanised metal roof in 0.60 mm sheet with a 105 mm skirt, for fixed-floor Dadant Blatt hives in the French format.
The 105 mm are not a manufacturing whim: that is the height that leaves room for a top feeder without the roof resting on it. It sits on a 435 × 510 mm footprint, and on that one only.
01 · COMPATIBILITY
It is built for the 435 × 510 mm footprint of the French Dadant Blatt, over 25 mm walls. It does not fit Langstroth or Dadant US: those hives have a different footprint, so the roof either rattles about or will not go on. If yours is a fixed-floor Langstroth, what you want is the sheet-and-hardboard roof, not this one. What does not matter is the material: it works on wooden and on plastic hives alike, because what governs is the outside measurement of the box.
02 · THE HEIGHT
A flat roof closes the hive and little else. With a 105 mm skirt a top feeder —the Nicot type— fits underneath without propping the roof up or stacking an empty super just to gain clearance. And when no feeder is in, that space stays as an air gap between the sheet metal and the top of the nest.
03 · BUILD
The sheet is galvanised 0.60 mm, the old 60/100e. The edges carry a reinforced hem, which is what takes the sharp edge off when you handle it with gloves and what stops the skirt splaying when roofs are stacked. And the corners are spot welded, not merely folded: that is exactly where a sheet roof starts to open up after a few seasons of sun and travel.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
Measure your hive before ordering. This roof is for a 435 × 510 mm footprint with 25 mm walls; if you run Langstroth or Dadant US, this is not the one. And if you plan to use a top feeder, check its height: 105 mm leaves room for the usual models, but not for a large-capacity feeder.
