Details of Hand awl

Manual awl measuring 170 mm, with a wooden handle and a 2.5 mmpoint, for making wire holes or preparing eyelet seats in frame side bars. A simple option for occasional work and for anyone who prefers to control each hole without using a drill.

📐 Mark before piercing

Mark every point at the same height and support the side bar on a firm surface. Hold the point perpendicular to the wood and advance with gradually increasing pressure and a slight twist. This keeps the wire runs parallel and prevents the foundation from sitting crooked when embedded.

🔧 Protect the edge of the side bar

Do not force the awl near an open grain or the end of the wood. First make a clean hole and insert the eyelet before tensioning: the eyelet spreads the friction and reduces the risk of the wire cutting into the bar. Store the point clean, dry and covered to prevent puncture injuries.
