Details of Apistop® sealant

Beeswax-based sealing putty for filling cracks in the box and sealing the edges of wooden feeders.

Bees propolise every gap that lets in a draught or a robber, but they cannot close the wide splits of an old box.

01 · APPLICATION

It softens with the warmth of your hand, no tools needed

Take what you need and work it between your fingers until it gives: then press it into the crack or run it along the feeder edge. Level the surplus off with a scraper or the tip of your hive tool. No mixing and no drying time: it seals there and then.

02 · WHERE IT GOES

Inside or outside, depending on where the problem comes from

If the split goes right through, fill it from the outside, which is where the water gets in. On feeders it goes inside, along the joint between floor and walls, which is where syrup escapes. Being formulated with beeswax, it is a putty meant to be worked inside the hive.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

This is a 250 g tub for spot repairs: enough for the cracks on a few boxes or to go over some feeders, not to treat a whole apiary. And since it softens with heat, on a face in full summer sun it can give: there it is worth finishing over it with paint.
