Details of Pink Line Beekeeping Gloves – Full Grain Leather, Pink

With beekeeping gloves the size is not guessed: it is measured, and measured at one particular spot.

Full-grain cowhide gloves with a long pink canvas cuff and a touchscreen patch on both index fingers. Six sizes, from 6 to 11.

01 · THE SIZE

Index knuckle to little-finger knuckle

With your hand open, measure the straight-line distance from the knuckle of your index finger to the knuckle of your little finger. That figure in centimetres is your size: 9 cm means size 9. It is the system the whole leather-glove trade uses, and it beats translating from a shirt size.

A glove that pinches across those knuckles will let you know within half an hour of work, and one that is too roomy costs you the feel of the frame. If you land exactly between two numbers, send us the measurement before you order.

02 · CUFF AND FEEL

What protects you is the overlap

The long canvas cuff is not there for warmth: it is there to cover the join with the suit sleeve. That is where a bee finds the gap, so the cuff has to overlap the sleeve with no skin showing — the glove itself can be perfect and that seam will still ruin it.

The touchscreen patch on the index fingers solves a small problem with large consequences: taking a call or a photo of the apiary without pulling a glove off. Do not expect to type comfortably with it; the area is small, and its virtue is avoiding the gesture that ends in a sting.

03 · WHEN IT IS THE WRONG GLOVE

Leather soaks things up

For handling hives, full-grain leather is exactly what you want: thin, tough and with feel. But it is no good for treatments or cleaning — leather drinks the product, hardens and keeps it inside. That job belongs to nitrile gloves.

And the care that makes them last: no washing machine, no hot water, and dry them in the shade.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

This is a handling glove, with a measured size:

✓ FITSWorking frames and smoker with the phone to hand · and anyone already wearing the Pink Line suit.
✕ DOESN'T FITApplying treatments or cleaning equipment: leather soaks it up. Use nitrile for that.
