PPE, EU 2016/425

ApisPro Shield gloves with a sheepskin palm and a breathable knit back and gauntlet, in sizes 9 to 12, category II PPE. They are the gloves for feel and for heat: fine leather where you grip the frame and mesh where you sweat. Mesh is not leather: it stops fewer stings, and with defensive colonies it is not the glove.

A Portuguese review from 2026 sums it up without meaning to: a sting after five minutes, and gloves underneath; then the ventilation is pointless. It is a glove for gentle colonies and hands that need to feel.

01 · THE PALM

Sheepskin: feeling the frame

Sheepskin is thinner and more flexible than cowhide or goat: you feel the frame’s weight, the propolis when prising, the Hoffman edge when seating, and you pick up a queen or a queen cell with precision. It is the palm of anyone working a lot inside the hive who is tired of thick gloves.

02 · THE BACK

Breathable knit: cool, and less barrier

Back and gauntlet are a thick knit that lets air through: on two- or three-hour summer inspections hands stay dry, which is the number one problem of the all-leather glove. The other side is what the review tells: knit does not stop a sting like cowhide. With gentle colonies and calm handling it serves; with defensive colonies, stormy days or harvest, the cowhide-backed BeeHard or, halfway, the 3D with reinforced fingers.

03 · SIZE AND CARE

From 9 to 12, and no sun or heat

Four sizes, by palm girth without the thumb and with some room. The leather is cleaned with a dry or barely damp cloth and dried in the shade; direct sun and heat harden it. For oxalic treatments or soda cleaning, the nitrile glove.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

One pair of the chosen size is supplied; for more protection, the BeeHard 3180; for treatments, the nitrile 3182.

✓ FITSAnyone inspecting gentle colonies in the heat who values the feel of sheepskin and wants dry hands.
✕ DOESN’T FITAnyone handling defensive colonies or wanting the back to stop stings: for that, the cowhide BeeHard.
⚠ NOT INCLUDEDNothing: it is the complete pair.
