Details of Yellow nitrile gloves

Glove of coated yellow nitrile with cotton lining and 15 cm fabric cuff. The classic compromise between dexterity and protection for the beekeeper who opens hives daily and needs to pinch a queen, handle propolis-stuck frames or clean cappings without losing feel — but does not want to sense every bee leg on the back of the hand when a nervous bee shows up.

🤲 The dexterity-protection balance for daily inspection

Leather gloves protect better against stings but lose feel, get loaded with propolis and become a nightmare in summer. Disposable latex gloves give maximum dexterity but almost zero protection. These coated nitrile with cotton lining sit in the middle: the double nitrile coating holds front stings without piercing, while the cotton inside absorbs sweat and provides enough feel for most inspection, marking and minor brood-chamber tasks. They do NOT replace leather in apiaries with defensive races or when you work an hour and a half straight in full summer — use cattle leather or reinforced hide for that.

🟡 Why yellow matters more than it looks

The yellow colour is not aesthetic — it is functional. It lets you immediately spot propolis, melted wax or accumulated pollen on the glove (on black leather these go unnoticed until they harden into a crust). It also helps detect accidental punctures with the hive tool or a loose wire, where blood shows up before reaching the cotton inside. Yellow gloves are standard among professional honey producers, and many field manuals recommend them precisely for these two practical reasons.

📐 15 cm fabric cuff — seals the forearm

The most vulnerable area when handling frames is not the palm — it is the forearm, just as you lift the frame and the bee climbs up the glove looking for a gap. The 15 cm fabric cuff fits the forearm and tucks inside the shirt or beekeeping jacket, sealing that critical point with no slack. Total length 30 cm of glove + 15 cm of cuff = 45 cm, enough to reach comfortably above the elbow in most adult sizes.
