Water-cooled Puff Graz foundation mould for 420 × 202 mm Langstroth sheets, with 5.4 mm cells (790 cells/dm²) and an internal cooling circuit.
The standard matrix is 5.4 mm. If you need another cell size — 4.9 or 5.1 — ask us before buying: it is the matrix that decides.
Original Puff Graz wax foundation press, made in Austria, with water-cooled upper and lower plates and a silicone rubber matrix. Langstroth format, stainless steel metal parts.
01 · THE CELL IS 5.4 MM
The standard matrix embosses a 5.4 mm cell, which is 790 cells per square decimetre counting both faces. The arithmetic holds: a 5.4 mm hexagon covers about 25 mm², and a dm² fits close to 400 per face.
Standard and special sizes exist, but the cell is set by the matrix, not by an adjustment on the machine. If your project calls for 4.9 or 5.1 mm, ask us before buying and we will confirm it with the manufacturer.
02 · NO RELEASE AGENT
The matrix is silicone rubber, an in-house compound. Unlike a roller mill, it needs no release agent: the wax is poured straight onto the matrix.
And since no solvents are involved, the sheet comes out dry. That saves a consumable and a step: no release agent to buy, no sheets to dry before handling.
03 · TO SIZE, NO TRIMMING
The outside dimensions come out exact, so the sheet goes from mould to frame without passing a blade. That is time, and it is wax that never becomes offcut.
On a roller mill the sheet comes out as a continuous ribbon and has to be cut to each format; here it does not.
04 · THE WATER WORKS TWICE
Both plates carry internal water cooling on a heat-exchanger principle: the water goes in cold, picks up the heat of the wax and comes out warm.
And that outgoing water is put to use cooling the surplus wax in the collection tray. The regulating valve matches the flow to the speed you work at, so water consumption stays low.
05 · SIXTY SHEETS AN HOUR
You get 50 to 60 sheets an hour: roughly one a minute, counting pouring, cooling and demoulding.
Over a working day that is several hundred sheets — enough for a mid-sized operation that wants to close the loop on its own wax instead of sending it out to be milled.
