01 · 350 KILOS AN HOUR, CONTINUOUS

The difference from a screw press

The figure is for honey-laden cappings, that is, straight off the bench with the honey still in them. At that rate a long day's uncapping is processed as it is produced instead of piling up waiting.

That is what separates this machine from manual or batch presses: there is no loading, squeezing, emptying and starting again. The 1.10 kW geared motor pushes continuously.

02 · PRESS OR CENTRIFUGE

The two ways of getting honey out of cappings

The catalogue carries both systems and they do not do the same thing. The press squeezes: it runs continuously, gives high throughput and leaves the wax drier. The centrifuge spins: it works in batches, is gentler on the wax and asks to be loaded and unloaded.

The choice is not about price but about how you work. Whoever uncaps for hours on end wants continuous; whoever does it in spells and batches may prefer the drum.

03 · WAX AND HONEY COME OUT APART

And each to its own tank

The machine delivers the honey to a 55-litre tank and the wax to a separate 40-litre plastic collector, with two 3.5-litre filters on the honey's way out.

Those filters are for roughing: they hold back what the press drags along, they do not clarify. The honey that comes out still asks for its settling before bottling.

04 · THE OUTLET IS SMS 76

Neither DN 40 nor DN 50: a third calibre

The outlet connection is SMS 76 mm, the Swedish dairy standard. It is not the 1½” (DN 40) of the house honey line, nor the 2” (DN 50) of other machines in the workshop.

It is worth putting in the budget: linking this press to the rest of the installation needs an adapter, and that is the kind of part you discover on assembly day.

05 · 105 KILOS AND 1.3 METRES

You need the space

It measures 1,300 × 720 × 740 mm and weighs 105 kg. It runs on 230 V, 50 Hz, so it asks for no three-phase installation — but it does ask for a metre and a half clear and a floor you can clean under.

Working continuously, what governs the siting is not the machine but what surrounds it: where the cappings come in and where the two tanks go when they fill.
