Details of Electric heating for knives Desopro 1600W

1,600 W electric heating for the Désopro blades: holds the edge at around 60 °C and adds discs for hollow comb.

Sixty degrees is not a round number: it sits just below the melting point of wax. Beeswax melts between 62 and 65 °C. A blade at 60 softens the cappings and cuts clean without melting wax into the honey. The regulation is electronic, and that is what stops it going past.

01 · 60 °C: JUST BELOW MELTING

And that is why regulated matters more than simply hot

A cold edge drags and tears; an edge that is too hot melts wax that ends up in the honey and has to be separated afterwards. The useful band is narrow, which is why this carries electronic regulation and not a plain resistor.

Contact with the honey lasts a fraction of a second, not a bath, so at that temperature and for that time it is not the same as warming the crop. Even so, the house rule stands: heat is controlled, not turned up for its own sake.

02 · THE DISCS FOR HOLLOW COMB

The half of this accessory almost nobody knows

When a frame is not drawn out flush, the blade passes over the sunken areas and leaves cappings unopened. That honey does not come out in the spinner and is lost, or the frame has to be gone over by hand.

That is what the two rows of heated stainless discs are for, synchronised with the same regulator: they open what the blade could not reach, without having to uncap deeper than you should.

03 · 1,600 W ON THE DÉSOPRO

It is fitted, not a stand-alone appliance

It is an accessory to the professional Désopro and integrates into it: it does not work on its own and does not adapt to another uncapper. It draws 1,600 W.
