01 · THE TRIGGER IS WHAT CHANGES

The pump obeys from the gun

Without a remote, the pump runs the whole time: you throttle it by hand, you spill at every change of hive, and you go back to the panel to stop it. With the trigger, the pump starts when you squeeze and stops when you let go.

That is what lets you go hive by hive without wasting syrup or leaving the ground sticky — which is what brings on robbing.

02 · WHICH PUMPS IT FITS

And in which direction

It is made for MONOLOBI 60, MONOLOBI 100, PV 100 and MOTOBOMBA 60. Installation means plugging the pump and the remote into the 220 V single-phase panel, and the male connector into the pump.

A lobe pump turns both ways, so the same line serves to dispense syrup and to empty a tank. The direction is chosen before you start.

03 · RINSE THE LINE WHEN YOU FINISH

Syrup ferments inside

This is the advice that saves the equipment: sugar syrup left in the hose crystallises and ferments. Next day it is hard to prime; a week later the inside is sour and sticky.

Run hot water through the whole line at the end of the day, with the pump going, until it comes out clean. Two minutes that save you stripping the hose in January.

04 · COLD SYRUP RUNS SLOWER

And autumn is when you notice

Autumn feeding happens at low temperatures, and cold syrup is a good deal more viscous: flow drops, the pump works harder and each hive takes longer to fill.

Making the syrup with warm water and not leaving the drum out all night solves most of it. The 10 metres of hose let you keep the drum on the trailer and work several hives without moving the vehicle.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Check your pump model and that you have a 220 V single-phase panel to plug the remote into.
