Details of Stainless steel pipe for drums

It goes to the bottom of the drum and stays there. That is all it does, and it is exactly what is missing when the hose floats.

AISI 304 stainless steel suction tube with a side locking nut, for drawing honey out of drums. Available in Ø40 mm (1½") and Ø50 mm (2").

01 · THE SIDE FIXING

What stops it moving

The tube goes right to the bottom and is clamped with an adjustable side nut against the rim of the drum. It stays vertical and firm, and that is the difference: a loose hose floats as soon as the level drops and ends up sucking air.

It works the same for drum to settling tank as between two drums.

02 · THE SIZE

Ø40 is an inch and a half; Ø50, two inches

The two versions match the usual pump and food-hose sizes: Ø40 mm is 1½" and Ø50 mm is 2". You choose by your pump, not by the drum.

And before ordering, check the height of your drums: the tube has to reach the bottom to be of any use. If you are not sure it is long enough, ask us.

03 · THE STAINLESS

AISI 304, and why it matters here

AISI 304 stands up to the natural acidity of honey without pitting, even with acidic honeys like eucalyptus or heather, and cleans thoroughly with nothing left to cling to.

With dense or beginning-to-granulate honey the trick is not in the tube: warm the drum first with a heating belt or a warm room. You lower the flow resistance and extend the pump's life.
