PRO mating nuc in high-density polystyrene 120 kg/m³ (24×15×17 cm). 4 plastic frames with preinstalled foundation, 4-position disc entrance, dual adjustable ventilation and rear feeder chamber with anti-drowning steps. Denser and more durable than standard market mating nucs.
PRO mating nuc in high-density polystyrene (120 kg/m³), more than twice as dense as standard market models (50-60 kg/m³). This material difference is decisive in mating nucs: it insulates much better against temperature swings, withstands professional handling season after season, and reduces the risk of nurse bees collapsing at the first sudden weather change. Compact 24 × 15 × 17 cm format with 4 plastic frames with preinstalled foundation — one frame more than the standard Kieler format.
Material 2-2.5 times denser than standard mating nuc polystyrene. Delivers superior thermal insulation — key in small volumes where a sudden drop compromises brood —, greater resistance to intensive handling (doesn't chip when prying with the hive tool) and a longer life cycle after cycle.
Includes 4 plastic mini frames, each with a preinstalled piece of plastic foundation so bees draw wax quickly. One frame more than the standard Kieler/APIDEA 3-frame format, in the same 24 × 15 × 17 cm footprint. Saves time when setting up each batch.
Front rotating disc with four positions: controls access for bees, queen or drones separately, and allows full closure for introduction or transport. Dual adjustable ventilation: sliding mesh at the bottom + sliding panel at the front. Useful combination to prevent condensation in humid areas and to fine-tune airflow according to management phase (introduction, mating, transport).
Independent feeder compartment at the rear, separated by a queen excluder that stops bees from building comb inside. Design includes internal steps and a fine mesh so bees can climb down to the food without drowning in the syrup — a common failure mode of flat feeders in mating nucs. Rear position makes it easy to refill without disturbing the brood area.

⚠️ Important about mating: the PRO mating nuc is a management tool, it does not guarantee mating. Even with high-density polystyrene, success depends on enough young nurse bees, reserves in the feeder, mature drones available, favourable weather (~20 °C, clear sky, low wind) and unit health. The superior insulation reduces the risk of cold failure, but does not replace planning drone rearing about 5 weeks ahead or controlling varroa before stocking bees.
