Expanded polystyrene lid for Paradise Honey 6-frame nucs, Langstroth and Dadant: one smooth face that closes flush and one grooved face with a central slot that, turned over, lets air through for transport. Weighs 100 grams. The lid alone is supplied.

It is the nuc’s reversible roof: smooth face down in the apiary, grooved face down in the van.

01 · WHICH NUC IT FITS

Paradise 6-frame nucs, not a universal lid

It is moulded for the body of the Paradise Honey 6-frame nuc, the same one in Langstroth and Dadant: perimeter and underside reliefs fit by their own profile, without latches. It does not match other brands’ nucs or Paradise’s own mating nucs: those are families that share no parts.

02 · THE TWO FACES

Close, or ventilate for the move

Smooth face down it closes and insulates: a three or six-frame colony feels a badly seated lid within hours. To transport with bees inside it is turned over: grooves and central slot let air through without letting bees out. As everything fits by gravity, for the journey it is held with a strap or a band; the lid alone does not close a transport.

03 · CARE

Scrape cold, paint the outside

Before closing, scrape brace comb and propolis off the rim so it seats flat. It is polystyrene of over 100 kg/m³: it takes the hive tool, not flame or solvents; clean with hot water and detergent or soda, and paint the outside only, water-based. Store flat and dry.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The lid is supplied; body, base, entrances and divider are bought separately.
