Origin and flower

“Producto Español” is a declaration of origin, and the lavender in the drawing points to a floral origin. A seal like this belongs on lavender honey, or a multifloral where that flower predominates, packed in Spain.

Put on anything else it stops being decoration: it becomes a label that does not match.

02 · 142 MM: THE SUM

How far it comes down the side

The 142 mm of length go over the lid and down both sides. On a TO 82 lid — the one on a 1 kg jar — about 3 cm is left on each side, and that is what grips the glass.

On smaller lids, TO 63 or TO 66, it comes down a little further. The 22 mm of width are the same on all of them.

03 · IT SHOWS, IT DOESN'T LOCK

What a tamper seal is

It does not close the jar: the lid does. What the seal does is have to break to open, so the customer can see whether anyone got there first.

For it to grip, the jar has to be clean and dry. A jar straight out of the cold room sweats, and adhesive does not stick to that moisture: let it come up to temperature and press both sides down firmly.
