NICOT® shallow super for Dadant Blatthives, sized for 9 compatible straight-sided shallow frames. Its external dimensions are 430 × 500 × 168 mm, with 25 mm walls and frame spacers moulded into the box. The manufacturer's declaration identifies the material as brown food-contact-grade HDPE.

📐 9-frame Dadant Blatt, with no approximations

Do not order this super simply because your apiary uses “Dadant”. Confirm that the format is Dadant Blatt, with a 168 mm shallow super and nine straight-sided frames. A Dadant US, Hoffman or wooden frame with a different top bar or height may rub or fail to sit correctly despite sharing part of the name.

🧩 Spacing integrated into the body

Upper notches form the spacing rail and arrange the nine frames without a separate castellated spacer. Before putting it into service, fit all the frames and check that they hang freely, remain evenly distributed and can be removed without levering. Nominal capacity does not mean that frames are included: the commercial specification identifies the super body only.

🔧 Stack on clean, flat surfaces

Remove wax and propolis from the bearing surfaces before fitting the super; a small deposit can leave a gap and encourage draughts or robbing. Check how it seats on compatible NICOT floors and brood boxes, and avoid impacts in cold weather or point loads on the corners during transport and storage.

🧹 Clean without damaging the plastic

Empty it and scrape off coarse deposits with tools that will not cut the surface. Wash using a procedure compatible with HDPE and rinse away all detergent residue. Inspect edges, bearing surfaces and spacers before reuse; deformation in these areas affects fit more than a superficial mark.
