TOP DIAMETER

Food-grade plastic pail with tamper-evident lid to store and move honey in bulk, holding 80 kg.

It is the format the crop lives in between extraction and jarring, stackable and with a mouth wide enough to decrystallise inside.

01 · CAPACITY

Why 60 litres come to 80 kilos of honey

The figure that catches beginners out: honey weighs roughly 1.4 times what water does, so the pail's 59.2 net litres fill with about 80 kg. Work your drums out in litres and you end up short of containers; work the shelf or the pallet out in litres and you go over on weight. With honey, always in kilos.

02 · BUILD

The reinforced rim is what carries the 80 kilos

A pail full of honey gets moved by the handles and by the rim, and that is where the cheap ones give way. This one has a thick wall and a reinforced neck, with carrying handles and a standardised shape that lets them stack without the top one rocking. The lid is tamper-evident — you can see if anyone has opened it — but easy to open, which you appreciate in the honey house when there are twenty of them.

03 · STORAGE

Close it warm and write the batch on before you stack

Honey keeps working inside the pail: it crystallises, and it takes up moisture if the seal is not tight. Fill and close it the same day you extract, while the honey still flows, and write the batch on the lid and on the body — in a stack you only see the face, and unstacking twenty pails to find one is a lost morning. Keep them somewhere dry and free of temperature swings.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

It measures 668 mm tall by 375 mm across the top, so check the clear height of your shelf before deciding how many to stack. It is sold with its lid.

✓ FITSBulk honey, pollen and other food products; stackable.
✕ DOESN'T FITHeating the pail in a water bath or hot room: decrystallise in a suitable vessel.
