PET container of 740 cc for keeping and moving 1 kg of honey, with a screw cap included. The body is tapered — 99 mm across the base and 85 at the neck, 111 tall — so they stack and take little room on the honey-room shelf.

It is the little brother of the two-kilo container, and the difference is not only size: this one has no handle.

01 · THE CAPACITY

740 cc meant for 1 kg of honey, not of water

Honey weighs around 1.42 kg per litre, so a kilo takes about 700 cc. The 740 of this container is that plus the margin under the cap: no wasted volume and no container that comes up short. Compare containers by volume without doing this arithmetic and you end up with a one-litre pot for a kilo and a half, or a 700 in which the thread will not close.

02 · THE TWO DIAMETERS

99 mm at the base, 85 at the neck

The body narrows towards the top: 99 mm across the base, 85 at the neck and 111 in height. Keep that difference in mind if you are fitting it into a display, a made-to-measure box or a labeller designed for a narrow neck, because the label goes on the wide part and the machine grips the neck. On the shelf, the tapered shape lets them stack without leaning.

03 · MATERIAL AND USE

Food-grade PET, and for bulk, not for the shelf

It is made of injection-blown PET, approved for food contact: light, clear and hard to break, which is what you ask of a container that comes and goes from the honey room. The cap is a screw cap and is included. It does not take hot filling — honey goes in cold or lukewarm — and for a shop shelf glass still rules: this is a container for keeping, moving and selling in bulk.
