Detalles de Apibioxal 44,2 mg/ml

Liquid sugar-free veterinary medicine. Direct trickling application. Organic beekeeping compatible.

Mixing syrup, weighing powder, calculating ratios… when you've got 80 hives ahead of you and the treatment window is closing, every extra step is time you don't have. Api-Bioxal® Solution fixes that: it's a 100% ready-to-use formulation based on oxalic acid, glycerol and water, registered as a veterinary medicine (Reg. No. 4045 ESP). Open, fill your syringe and apply. No weighing, no dilution, no dosing errors. Available as a 500 ml bottle (~15 hives) and a 5 L bag-in-box (~150 hives), compatible with organic certification.

⚡ Ready to use — zero preparation, zero mistakes

No weighing sachets, no mixing syrup to exact proportions. Api-Bioxal® Solution comes pre-formulated from the factory. This eliminates the main source of error in oxalic acid trickle treatments: incorrect dosing. It also requires no pre-heating and has no temperature restrictions on use — just the standard requirement of applying in a broodless state. Ideal for beekeepers managing large numbers of colonies who need speed and reliability in the field, or for less experienced beekeepers who prefer to keep things simple.

🧪 Glycerol instead of sugar — longer-lasting treatment effect

The formulation replaces sugar with glycerol, which has a higher hygroscopic activity. In practice, this means it retains moisture longer inside the hive and prevents rapid dehydration of the solution on the bees. The result is a more even distribution of the treatment across the colony. Additionally, glycerol does not produce HMF (hydroxymethylfurfural) in acidic conditions — a toxic compound that can form with sugar-based formulations — and appears to improve bee tolerance to trickle application.

🔧 Simple application — syringe and 5 ml per bee space

Dosing is straightforward: 5 ml per occupied bee space (between top bars of frames), applied with a syringe along each seam. Maximum authorised dose: 50 ml per hive per application. No additional calculations, no conversions. Same dose from first hive to last. The 5 L format with dispensing tap makes work far easier in large operations — you fill your syringe directly from the bag-in-box with no need to open or decant.

📦 Two formats — from the backyard apiary to the professional outfit

Exceptional shelf life: 3 years in sealed packaging and 12 months once opened at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. No refrigeration needed. You can open the bottle at the start of the season and use it throughout without loss of efficacy.

Format Presentation Hives (approx.) Shelf life once opened
500 ml Bottle ~15 hives 12 months
5 L Bag-in-box ~150 hives 12 months

📅 When to treat — no sealed brood, as always with oxalic acid

Oxalic acid does not penetrate under the cappings: it acts solely on phoretic mites through direct contact within the first 24–72 hours. Maximum efficacy with little or no sealed brood. In winter, take advantage of the natural brood break. In spring-summer, use queen caging (Nicot cage, 24 days) to render the colony broodless. A maximum of 2 treatments per year is authorised (winter and/or spring-summer). And the golden rule: treat all hives in the apiary simultaneously — one untreated colony is a reinfestation source through drifting and robbing that undermines the entire apiary.
